How does Emotional Intelligence Differ from MBTI?

  • The MBTI is a tool that measures personality preferences and temperament. The Simmons EQ survey illustrates an individual’s emotional energy, attitudes and behaviors toward life and work, and the management of interpersonal relationships. The EQ survey provides a snapshot of current reality, leanings, and areas that need growth. It not only suggests how an individual thinks but also reflects how he or she is actually behaving.  EQ measurements are helpful for personal and professional growth as well as for team building in the workplace and for hiring.

  • Emotional Intelligence (EQ) is a key component in the management of self and others. If intelligence quotient (IQ) indicates intellectual capacity, then EQ measures the individual’s capacity to funnel emotion, which is the root of all action, into effective and purposeful activity.
  • The Simmons EQ survey, developed in 1975, measures 13 key emotional characteristics identified as contributing to an individual’s success in the workplace and in personal relationships. Over the past few decades, the Simmons Survey has been utilized by consultants nationally and internationally to equip, counsel, and develop individuals personally and professionally.
  • An initial consultation includes review of the survey results and discussion of your goals, growth zones, and balance. Consultation is $180 per hour (in addition to an $80 EQ survey fee) and may be conducted on the phone or in person.

For those individuals interested in follow-up coaching, a 4-point coaching program is available. Each session runs 60 minutes.
